Liesl Obrecht has been in mourning on General Hospital (GH), but Kathleen Gati has plenty of reason to celebrate!
Gati was born August 13, 1957, in Canada to Hungarian parents, and that means the beloved actress is turning 61 years old today! You could say she was destined to perform considering her father was a symphony conductor and her mother an opera singer.
The future Daytime Emmy nominee started acting at three years old — and actually wrote, directed, and starred in her first play when she was eight years old. After she graduated high school, she headed to New York to follow her dream, where she performed on and off Broadway.
From 1989-1990, Gati played the role of Taffy Winslow on All My Children. After, she did a film in Hungary and ended up spending five years there where she continued to act in all sorts of television shows and made-for-TV movies.
When she returned to the United States, she continued her successful career, with recurring roles in such shows as 24, Alphas, Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462, and Arrow but it was scoring the role of Dr. Liesl Obrecht on GH in 2012 that endeared her to soap fans.
It seems like Liesl can do any number of dastardly things but fans can’t get enough of the vulnerable qualities that Gati infuses her with, along with the glint in her eye that lets you know absolutely anything could happen next.
Now that the good doctor is on the run from the law, it’s freed Gati to take on other roles. She’s completed the movie Men of Mercy, the TV movie The Force and Crossing with Rudolf Martin (ex-Anton Lang, All My Children). She also appeared in Ladies of the Lake: Return to Avalon.
