In the July 1 episode of General Hospital, Cassius hit the road after he had a heartbreaking goodbye with James. The walls had closed in on Cassius and led him to leave Port Charles without finishing the mission with Sidwell and Cullum.
Key Takeaways
- Cody stopped James from leaving with “Nathan”.
- James proved to be the one person Cassius truly loved.
- Is this really the end of Cassius?
Cassius Figures Out Cody Knows Something
After he listened to Felicia’s (Kristina Wagner) voicemail, Cody (Josh Kelly) stopped “Nathan” (Ryan Paevey) from leaving the batting cages with James (Gary James Fuller). Cody didn’t create a scene or blow up at “Nathan” to stay away from the boy.
Instead, Cassius saw the look on Cody’s face and knew his cover as Nathan was blown. Cassius shared an emotional goodbye with James as he let the boy know that no matter what anyone said about him, James should know that he loved him.
James was heartbroken and confused at losing his father again, especially since he was given a vague reason. Cody called Felicia in France, and she tried to make James feel better. Felicia also realized that Anna (Finola Hughes) was right about Cassius.
Getting Out of Town
Once Cassius left Cody and James, he immediately went to a car with Ontario license plates that he had stashed for an easy escape. It was beyond clear to Cassius that his cover was blown on many levels, not just Sidwell (Carlo Rotta) telling Joe (Jonathan Bennett).
Inside the car, Cassius had a sentimental moment that proved he wasn’t the worst guy in the world. Cassius took his American photo ID, money, and a photo of himself and James from his wallet.
Keeping the photo of him with James only further cemented what was shown in his goodbye with James. Cassius really loved that kid, and it was breaking his heart to leave him.
So Many Loose Ends
While he got to have his goodbye with James, there are so many loose ends that need to be tied up regarding Cassius. The character skipping town means that, for now, there will be no confrontation from Felicia, Mac (John J. York), or even Maxie (Kirsten Storms) if Maxie is ever back on screen.
Cassius facing off against Anna would have been amazing to see play out. Also, what about Faison’s (Anders Hove) final project? Cassius simply abandoned it after going to such great lengths to help Sidwell and Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) with it.
Then again, this may not be the last time fans see the character. If this really is goodbye to Cassius for now, the door was clearly left open for him to return, and more story to be told.
