Heather Is Coming Home
Mills took over the role of Heather in 2022, following Georganne LaPiere, Mary O’Brien, and longtime Heather portrayer Robin Mattson. She quickly made the role her own, winning Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Guest Performance in 2023 and 2025.

That certainly doesn’t sound like Heather is returning to quietly catch up with old friends.
Heather Left Port Charles a Very Different Woman
That’s what makes this return particularly interesting. Heather’s most recent stint didn’t end with another escape from a psychiatric hospital or one of her spectacularly unhinged schemes.
Doctors discovered that Heather had cobalt poisoning from a faulty hip replacement, which raised questions about whether the condition contributed to her violent behavior, including her crimes as The Hook. After surgery, Heather began behaving more rationally, and her conviction was eventually overturned.
Steven (Scott Reeves) then returned to Port Charles and agreed to take his mother away to begin a new life. When Heather left in October 2024, GH had effectively given one of its most notorious villains something she had rarely received before: a genuine chance at starting over.
Which Heather Webber Is Coming Back?
That’s the big question now. Mills once described Heather to Soap Opera Digest as an “overcomer” and a “survivor,” two qualities that could become particularly important in her next chapter.
Heather also has plenty of unfinished history in Port Charles. She’s Franco’s mother, Steven’s mother, and the biological mother of the late Esme, whose presumed death devastated her. She has deep connections to Scotty (Kin Shriner) and the Webber family, not to mention decades of enemies who aren’t likely to forget everything she’s done simply because her conviction was overturned.
Valentini’s promise of trouble suggests GH isn’t bringing Heather back merely for a visit. But after the show went to such lengths to change how viewers understood her behavior, simply turning her back into the old Heather would ignore the most interesting part of her last story.
