General Hospital’s Maurice Benard has been a strong advocate for wearing masks and staying safe during the pandemic, and the actor is happily vaccinated now.

Maurice Benard Details His Vaccine Experience

Benard posted a video on social media detailing his vaccine distribution experience, as he received a shot of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

“I got the shot, it was quick, and easy, they were incredibly nice,” he wrote on his Instagram account next to the video. “No side effects Just a tiny little pain in my arm. I’m ready to go!!!”

The accompanying video proved what he wrote to be true, though the actor did downplay his reaction to the pain a bit in his post.

In the video, we see Benard jumping out of his car and start joking with the person administering his vaccine, crying, “nooo” and then “oh man,” but by the time the shot came, the actor definitely felt the pinch, grimacing a bit and saying, “that was weird.”

Once back in the car, he looks at the camera and the grimace continues. “It did kind of hurt a little bit, man,” he admitted. “But it was quick. But it still kind of hurts.”

Unfortunately, the vaccine administer was out of lollipops and the two shared a laugh over that as well.

It’s hard to believe that Sonny Corinthos would ever admit to being in pain and he definitely wouldn’t grimace like that in front of someone and reveal a weakness. Benard would never be able to survive in the world that Sonny lives in because he needs to always keep that tough exterior. Sonny doesn’t even show pain when he gets shot with bullets, so a shot of the vaccine would probably be a cinch for him!

However, since Sonny isn’t really Sonny now, living a life as an amnesiac after having fallen off a bridge to his apparent death, maybe this version of the mobster would reveal a softer side. Hanging out with Nina (Cynthia Watros) in Nixon Falls as Mike, he’s certainly not the man he once was.

But odds are, once his memories return, so will his tough ways. And you could bet, he would have made them give him a lollipop! General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
