Réal Andrews has left General Hospital once again, but the actor’s exit is temporary. As Marcus Taggert is still needed on the canvas, the show has recast the role.

A New Taggert For Now on General Hospital

Soap Opera News first reported that Asante Jones is taking on the part of Trina’s (Sydney Mikayla) dad. While the actor hasn’t confirmed the fill-in gig, he has told his Instagram followers that he has something exciting going on. “Oooohh… I can’t WAIT for y’all to see this one!” Jones tweeted.

“#God is loving on me right now, in ways that I can see, feel and touch,” he continued, adding the hashtags: #Manifestation #FaithTurnedSubstance Got me out here knocking down shots I didn’t even put up! Loving! On! Me!! #StraightOffer #Recurring #GuestStar #TrulyAndProfoundly #BlessedAndGrateful #ActorsLife #HollywoodLife #LALife
#SetLife #InAnotherTrailer.”

According to Jones’ IMDB page, he’s set to play Taggert on Friday, December 18. At press time, there was no official word as to the actor’s official first appearance.

Jones’s TV credits go back to the year 2000 when he played a policeman on the series Diagnosis Murder. His other credits include ER, NCIS, Arrested Development, Criminal Minds, Strong Medicine, Dexter, Hot in Cleveland, Revenge, Scandal, Shameless, and the Neighborhood.

While this is Jones’s first soap, he does have a daytime connection as his cousin is Phil Morris (ex-Tyrone, The Young and the Restless).

Though now living in Los Angeles, Jones hails from Cleveland, Ohio. Acting has been his life long dream. At the age of 7, he visited his cousin, Greg Morris of Mission Impossible fame, in Beverly Hills. He remembers distinctly thinking, “Whatever he did to get a pool in his back yard, I’m doing it.”

Jones studied both acting and lighting at the Karamu House Theater. After working in Singapore with Disney in the electrical department, Jones returned to the States and began his acting career. Watch for updates on his first airdate as they become available. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check local listings for air times.
