Rebecca Budig fans couldn’t hold back the tears on Wednesday when the actress and her character, Hayden Barnes, bid farewell to General Hospital, Finn, and Violet.
Mutual General Hospital Admiration
Apparently, the exit was just as bittersweet off-screen as it was on-screen as both Budig and Michael Easton (Finn) showed their mutual admiration for one another on social media. Budig also shared her feelings about leaving the ABC soap once again.

“I HATE GOODBYES…I know you do too. Maybe we’re lucky to even have something that makes saying goodbye so hard” Easton posted on Facebook along with a drawing of the pair you can see below.
“In that sense, I guess I shouldn’t be sad because it’s over but happy because it even happened but that’s really hard to do when you’re missing your friend.
Of course, this isn’t just a “goodbye” but a “thank you”. Thank you for being so damn good at what you do. For lighting up a stage. Finding truth in the words. For making me better at what I do.
Then again maybe there are no “goodbyes” for us. I imagine wherever you are, wherever you go, a part of you will remain with me.
And maybe this is not forever. Maybe it’s not the end. So I’ll think about the beautiful days…Until we meet again.”
Budig responded on Twitter with:
“Sigh. I’m so lucky to call him my friend. To have worked with him..and learned so much from him. You are only as good as your partner so..thank you to all the fans who have supported me, Hayden and Finn…And I always say..never say never.”
She also took to Instagram to express her feelings about her latest General Hospital exit: “It’s hard to say goodbye once..and twice is that much harder. Then add the beautiful, sweet, magical @jophiellelove and it’s heartbreaking. I want to thank all those @generalhospitalabc fans that show up every day and are passionate about this show and our characters. I will miss my friend..for those like him are hard to come by..but I know our paths will cross again. (Or at least one can hope 🙂 xo”
Soap Hub is glad GH left the exit story wide open for another return and hopes Budig is back in Port Charles sooner rather than later. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
