General Hospital’s Kin Shriner is a big fan of old Hollywood, and can often be found talking about old movies and the old-time actors who were heroes of his.

Kin Shriner Recalls Meeting Jack Lemmon

This week, the actor remembered a memorable encounter with the great Jack Lemmon, star of classic movies like Some Like it Hot, The Odd Couple, and Grumpy Old Men.

Shriner posted a photo of himself with Lemmon on his Twitter page, with the caption, “The great jack Lemmon at my @GeneralHospital goodbye party.”

Seeing as Shriner’s Scotty Baldwin has left Port Charles numerous times since he first started playing the legal eagle, the actor explained in a second Twitter post that this goodbye was his first one—an exit he seems to still be begrudging a bit. In a video posted on the page, the actor talked about his feelings.

“In 1980, when I made the blunder of leaving General Hospital to go do the show Texas, Susan Brown, who played my mother [Gail] on the show, threw a party—a going away party, a hoe-down—and one of the guests at the party was the great Jack Lemmon,” Shriner said.

Longtime viewers will remember Shriner left his role to play Jeb Hampton on the new NBC soap, which only lasted two years on the air.

Good Times, Great Advice

Shriner went on to recap the talk he had with the legendary actor.

“He said, ‘Kid, an actor is remembered for his business, and I’ve been doing that business now for a long time.’ The great Jack Lemmon was there and gave me that advice,” Shriner said.

Thankfully, Shriner has brought Scotty back to GH several times and has been a fixture in Port Charles now for a while, and doesn’t seem to be planning any hasty exits. On-screen, Baldwin is getting upset that he’s not being kept in the loop regarding his son Franco’s health.

He’s also in a strange living arrangement with Liesl staying with him and driving him a bit nuts. One thing’s for sure with Mr. Baldwin, he’s always involved in something that makes you shake your head. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listing for air times.
