Hayley Erin just landed a plum role on one of the most anticipated spinoffs around, but what does that mean for General Hospital (GH)?
According to TVLine.com, Freeform is producing a Pretty Little Liars spin-off, called The Perfectionists — and has finalized the cast with Erin included. It also includes the original cast’s Sasha Pieterse (Alison) and Janel Parrish (Mona). While it’s unclear right now who Erin will play but the next casting could offer a clue.
Soap alum Kelly Rutherford, who starred on Generations and went on to primetime fame on Melrose Place, Gossip Girl, and most recently on the Dynasty reboot, will play a matriarch on the show named Claire Hotchkiss. Erin could easily pass as her daughter.
But what does all of this mean for Erin’s day job as Kiki Jerome on GH? As of this moment, it would seem that she could do both — especially if a pilot is all that’s shot for now. The article didn’t reveal if this pilot has a straight-to-series pickup.
But if the pilot does become a series, there are several ways this could work out. Kiki hasn’t been on a great deal since losing her love interest Dillon (Robert Palmer Watkins).

She’s been studying for med school and the show can just claim Kiki is off doing more of that while Erin is shooting the show and then could return to GH while on hiatus. If need be, GH could write her off by sending Kiki away to fight for Dillon.
The show could also bring back the actress who originated the role — Kristen Alderson, who has expressed interest in returning to GH. And, they could simply recast with a new actress.
