Everybody’s got an opinion…especially where their favorite daytime drama is concerned – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of General Hospital’s week that was.

General Hospital: Week In Review

Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright), thy name is Hypocrite! This woman drones on and on and on ad nauseum about what a terrible person Ava (Maura West) is and she practically called for Julian (William de Vry) and Brad’s (Parry Shen) stoning when she found out they had been keeping her grandson from her – oh, and that they had been keeping Wiley from Michael (Chad Duell). Carly didn’t forget that part, but she was much more concerned about how the baby-switching scam affected her.

So, with all that in mind, what is Carly currently doing? Keeping Nina (Cynthia Watros) from learning that Nelle (Chloe Lanier) was her daughter and that she has a grandson in Wiley. But it’s apparently okay for Carly to be doing so.

She doesn’t like it when it’s done to her, BUT Nina isn’t her. Or Carly’s family. So who cares that Nina is still in mourning? Who cares that she’s not actually okay with giving up the search for her child and is only doing it to placate Jax (Ingo Rademacher)? Not Carly.

And Carly also doesn’t care that Avery loves that stupid half-heart necklace. It is the means to her ultimate destruction and she must retrieve it before anyone can connect the dots.

The dots which would prove…what exactly? That Avery found a necklace in the woods? That Avery found a necklace in the woods near the Corinthos cabin? No one, ever, at anytime saw Nelle wearing the necklace. And no one even knew that she had that particular piece of jewelry. So what’s all the fuss about? All this is doing is serving the purpose of making Carly look desperate. And bad. We’re fine with that, but we’re not sure that’s what the scribes are going for here.

Further GH Musings

* Due to a lack of medication intake, Sonny is now in the grips of a manic episode. Phyllis, the nurse that should have known better than to take a patient she knew nothing about (and who knows nothing about himself), is pretty sure her new pet project is mentally ill, but what exactly is she going to do about it?

And by the by, what significance do you place on the fact that it’s Nina’s old nurse who’s tending to Sonny?

* Boy, Olivia (Lisa LoCicer) really cut to the heart of the problem when she blamed Ned’s (Wally Kurth) insecurities with their marriage on him being a Quartermaine. Truer words were never spoken.

And no bigger lie was ever told than Tracy’s (Jane Elliot) claim that she had only wanted to help ensure that Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) would stop drinking.

* Remember how we said no truer words had ever been spoken than the ones issued by Olivia? How about the castigation Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) gave Jason (Steve Burton) in relation to his (distinct lack of) parenting skills? General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC.
