The General Hospital recap for Wednesday, June 17, 2020, features the third of a five-day, five-episode marathon of all things Sonny and Carly. On today’s show, Sonny is fighting for his lie (so, no real change there), Carly is mourning the might have beens, (same old same old), and everything is being blamed on Julian Jerome (the show’s favorite go-to scapegoat).

General Hospital Recap Highlights

It was supposed to be a day of celebration. A day set aside for Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly (Laura Wright) to declare their undying love for one another in front of God and family. It ended in a blood bath. Now, Sonny is fighting for his life and his prognosis grows grimmer with each passing hour.

Carly is adamant about keeping the faith. She and Sonny have survived worse things and come out on the other side. Upon locating the vows her would-be groom had been prepared to utter, Carly headed to the chapel to pray and read her beloved’s words. “We don’t know what’s going to happen. But, if I die tomorrow…I’m a happy man because I spent the last day of my life with you.”

Meanwhile, Morgan (Bryan Craig) took to his dad’s bedside and promised to bring Julian (William deVry) to justice. Scratch that. He promised to KILL Julian. Because to a Corinthos, murder is justice. Somebody really should tell him that it was actually Paul Hornsby (Richard Burgi) who put that bullet in Sonny’s chest. You know, before it’s too late.

Later, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) took over vigil duties and used the time to air some grievances he had with the man who was both his father and the man who shot him point-blank in the chest for being a cop.

But his words were too powerful, too truthful. They sent Sonny into cardiac arrest and Morgan into a fit of panic. Good thing Michael (Chad Duell) was around – and level headed enough – to go fetch Carly and let her know that her husband might be about to meet his maker. Spoiler alert: He doesn’t.

Ready-Made Family

Across town, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) readied herself to tell “Jake Doe” (Billy Miller) a very harsh truth: he’s really Jason Morgan – though he’s actually Drew Cain…It’s complicated. Luckily, she was stopped by Little Jake.

He had a bad dream about Jake abandoning him and the family…just like ALL his other father figures. Can Elizabeth really stand for that, again? Spoiler alert: No, she can’t. But Carly outs the “truth” for her — eventually. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
