The General Hospital recap for Thursday, July 2, 2020, features the fourth of a five-day, five-episode marathon dedicated to Sonny and his children. In today’s show, Sonny emerged triumphant…despite being thoroughly in the wrong.

General Hospital Recap Highlight

Remember when Michael (Chad Duell) made a promise to avenge A.J.’s (Sean Kanan) murder? Remember when he swore he would make the murderer pay? He didn’t. Sure, he briefly – and we do mean BRIEFLY – engaged in a war with Sonny (Maurice Benard) over custody of baby Avery. And he actually managed to save her from the mobster’s influence.

But in the time it takes some people to bat an eye, Michael handed the child back to her father. He said he was still sore over the whole murder thing, but he had decided that what was best for Avery was for her to live with a barely repentant killer, a cheat, and a verbal abuser.

Carly (Laura Wright) was thrilled that her family was back together again – and she was certain that Michael would fully forgive Sonny sooner rather than later. Mother knows best!

Jealousy Is A Hell of A Drug

However, Ava (Maura West) didn’t share her rival’s opinion. But she wasn’t really in a position to make that known. She was, after all, masquerading as her own identical sister Denise.

In her new guise, Ava hoped to get close to Avery, but first, she had to help Franco (Roger Howarth) make Nina (Michelle Stafford) jealous. And boy did it ever work. In fact, it worked so well, that Nina carelessly signed her power of attorney over to Ric (Ric Hearst) and, by extension, her greedy mother, Madeline (Donna Mills).

A Mess If There Ever Was One

Laura (Genie Francis) and Luke (Anthony Geary) patiently waited, guns locked and loaded, to speak to Lucky’s (Jonathan Jackson) kidnappers. Instead, they ran into Holly Sutton (Emma Samms), who revealed that Ethan Lovett (Nathan Parsons) – the son that she shares with Luke – had also been taken.

Roundabout

Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) thought that Lulu (Emme Rylan) was cheating on him with Dillon Quartermaine (Robert Palmer Watkins). In response, he tried to cheat on her with Valerie (Brytni Sarpy). But she didn’t fall into the trap…this time anyway. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
