The General Hospital recap for Wednesday, July 8, 2020, features another episode where Sonny and his children take center stage. In today’s show, Sonny watches in horror as Michael is made to face the consequences of his actions…something the Dimpled Don isn’t used to seeing.
General Hospital Recap Highlights
While Michael (Chad Duell) prepared to face the judge and hear his sentence, everyone near and dear to him offered their opinions on how the situation would be resolved. Carly (Laura Wright) feared the worst. Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) continued to insist that his brother would merely receive a suspended sentence and counseling.
And poor trusting Morgan was sure that not only would Michael walk away scot-free – and be home in time for burgers and fries – but he also believed that it wouldn’t be but a few weeks before everyone forgave Dante his trespass of insisting that the truth be outed.
Prior to the sentencing, Johnny Zacchara (Brandon Barash) took the stand and insisted that Sonny, and not Michael, was the person responsible for Claudia’s death. In fact, he said that he viewed Michael as the hero of the story. The knight in shining armor who slew the crazed, baby-snatching dragon with an ax handle.

But the judge was not so easily swayed. Instead, he sentenced Michael to the minimum sentence available under the involuntary manslaughter statute: 5 years in prison…possibility of parole in 24 months.
The news was a devastating blow to everyone in the gallery including Dante – who insisted that Michael’s actions did not warrant prison time – and Sonny who decried the lack of justice.
Off a confrontation with Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers), Tracy (Jane Elliot) began to suspect that the villainess had not only doctored the paternity test that named Nikolas (Tyler Christopher) the father of Elizabeth’s (Rebecca Herbst) but that she had also arranged the murder of the lab tech who performed said test!
Meanwhile, Elizabeth waxed nostalgic with a terminally ill patient and insisted that she could win Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) back…despite the affair she had with his brother. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
