The General Hospital recap for Friday, January 8, 2021, features Laura getting some backup, Taggert getting a pep talk, and Carly getting some unwelcome news.

General Hospital Recap Highlight

Laura (Genie Francis) and Cyrus’s (Jeff Kober) contentious confrontation at GH turned physical and was interrupted by the latter’s very pissed off mother. Cyrus made his apologies…then referred to Lesley as the tramp who slept with his very married father.

Once Lesley’s confusion had been cleared up – and lord knows she dated, slept with, and/or married quite a few wrong’uns so it took a few minutes – she was aghast to realize that Port Charles’s latest criminal mastermind was Laura’s half-brother.

Cyrus further insulted Lesley by implying all his family’s misfortunes were her fault, then he turned his ire back towards Laura and insisted that she had better locate the missing Florence – or else!

The Ends Justify The Means

Over at the PCPD, Portia (Brook Kerr) paid Taggert (Asante Jones) a visit and reiterated both her and Trina’s (Sydney Mikayla) disappointment in him. Taggert countered that they were alive. Proof positive that his and Jordan’s (Briana Nicole Henry) plan was a success.

And in spite of her lingering anger at her ex, Portia had to agree, up to a point, that he was right. With that in mind, Portia pushed for Taggert to fight his current predicament.

Good News, Bad News

Meanwhile, Chase (Josh Swickard) and Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) attempted a drama-and-recrimination-free dinner. Unsurprisingly, it devolved into yet another argument about the stunt that Chase and Sasha (Sofia Mattson) pulled. But, in a surprising turn of events, the pair ended their disagreement with a passionate kiss!

At the same time, Michael (Chad Duell) interrupted Sasha’s apology tour that she decided to start over at Carly (Laura Wright) and Sonny’s (Maurice Benard). He explained to the women that he came bearing disappointing news. The hunt for Sonny has been reclassified from Search and Rescue to Search and Recover. But while the New Jersey Police have no faith in Sonny’s survival, Carly isn’t ready to throw in the towel.

And her stubbornness will soon be rewarded. Despite all evidence to the contrary, Sonny looks to be actually alive…though he’s not exactly safe and sound. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
