General Hospital Ponderings: If Drew Has Jason’s Memories, These Things Don’t Make Sense

We’re supposed to believe the only memories Drew has prior to 2014 come from Jason circa 1995-2012. That should be it. His actual memories are locked in a flash drive somewhere protected by a disco ball, cause this is General Hospital (GH) after all and why wouldn’t someone’s whole life be locked in a disco ball?

For two years, Drew (Billy Miller) lived Jason Morgan’s life with just these memories. And those memories would include the horror of watching Franco sexually assault Sam (Kelly Monaco) on his and Sam’s honeymoon, as well as knowing Franco is responsible for Michael (Chad Duell) being raped in jail.

Those were the actual Jason’s two biggest contentions last week when he was ready to leave Franco (Roger Howarth) to die after the earthquake. Those memories are so horrible and so intense, Jason was not willing to help until Sam convinced him to.

If Drew has those same horrific and intense memories and none of his own, then he should feel exactly what Jason feels, right? After all, he is so determined to hang onto Sam because he remembers loving her for more than a decade and not just the last two years.

We understand that GH had to start differentiating Drew from Jason when Steve Burton returned to the show because they are two different characters.

But, explaining everything away with Drew still having Jason’s memories and NONE of his own may not have been the best way to go.

If Drew only remembered being Jason and could feel all the things that came with the memories (which was an entire story at one point–the alleged Jason connecting feelings to his memory flashes), then he’d hate Franco just as much as Jason despite knowing a different Franco for the last few years.

Plus, he’d be absolutely heartbroken that Carly (Laura Wright) and Sonny (Maurice Benard) all but abandoned him in the wind. When Sam doesn’t want him, where does Jason always show up? Yes, Casa Corinthos or the Metro Court. Always.

And, he certainly wouldn’t be wearing dress pants and sports jackets every day sitting behind a desk.

If you have the Jason memories, have the feelings that go with them, you would still be somewhat like Jason. Tell us Drew has no memories now until his own return, like the Jake Doe he was when he first arrived in Port Charles.

But, don’t tell us he’s walking around with Jason’s memories and the only part of Jason’s life he wants is Sam. It just doesn’t fly, GH.

General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
