General Hospital’s Maura West plays it tough as Port Charles’ ruthless Ava Jerome, and the actress posted a memory on Instagram recently showing that she’s long played the “cool” kid.
Maura West And Her Walk Down Memory Lane
“My first production in High School…I was a Pink Lady,” West wrote, next to a photo of her in a production of Grease from back then.
Fans have little doubt that she took the Pink Lady pledge seriously: “To act cool, to look cool and to be cool,” as the photo shows the beautiful West looking ready for anything.
With so many theater kids unable to perform this year due to cancellations caused by the coronavirus, the importance of early experiences like this takes on even greater significance. West obviously has never forgotten her role, and like most, cherishes the time she spent on stage with her friends.
And if the memory of Grease wasn’t enough, West also strolled down past-production memory lane with another Instagram post that came from her time when she was 16.
“My friend sent me this .. this was Mt. Holyoke College Summer Theater…I was 16 … playing Crazy Nanette in The Ballad of Gopher Gap,” West wrote alongside a photo of her dressed in costume. “It was a great summer. Funny how a photo can flood one’s mind and heart with memories!”
In Port Charles, Ava is still embroiled in her War of the Roses-type marriage with Nikolas, trying to force him to cheat on her so she can make good on the postnup agreement where she gets all his Cassadine fortune if he cheats. Perhaps Ava has some thespian experience from her high school days that can help her trick her hubby. For Nikolas’s sake, we hope it wasn’t Chicago. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC.
