The annual General Hospital Fan Club Weekend,  aka GHFCW, which usually takes place in the summer, had been moved to the fall, but now the event has been canceled entirely due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Bad News For The General Hospital Fan Club Weekend

“It was with much disappointment that we announce the cancellation of the GHFCW  2020,” Debbie Morris, president, GH Fan Club,  posted. “Out of an abundance of caution, and for the health and well-being of our attendees and the actors, we feel this is the best course of action to take this year. We had hoped that we would be able to safely gather this fall but that does not look like it will be possible. Please go to GH Fan Club for further details. #GHFCW2020 #GHFCW #GH.”

The GH Fan Club Weekend is comprised of several events. Fans can attend luncheons and other social gatherings where they can meet various stars from the show. Traditionally, the weekend commences with a Thursday night kick-off reception. Additional get-togethers take place over the next few days. The main cast event is usually held on Saturday afternoon. Actors hold individual and small group events that can go through Monday.

Currently, GH is airing re-runs as the show ran out of original programming due to the coronavirus earlier this year. There’s no official word on when the show will return with new episodes however, the next batch of upcoming shows is from May when GH exhausted its supply. So it’s possible we could see new episodes by early August if shows continue to be allowed to film in Los Angeles, which has seen a surge in coronavirus cases of late. Stay tuned for details.

GH debuted on April 1, 1963, on ABC. The show was created by Frank and Doris Hursley. The show’s current producer is Frank Valentini. Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor are the head writers. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check local listings for air times.
