Mining the General Hospital Past Produces Current Gold

There is an old saying that if you don’t remember the past, you are doomed to repeat it. Well, when the past was that juicy, perhaps reliving it isn’t a bad thing, at least it isn’t currently on General Hospital.

Bringing back Tonja Walker as Olivia Jerome has been fantastic on several fronts, tying together characters, giving so many people something to do, and add to that these marvelous flashbacks from the 1980s!

A plethora of riches! This isn’t an off-screen history that is made up for a new character that we’re being asked to buy into – but rather a rich one we (well those of us who have watched General Hospital all these years) as viewers saw play out decades ago.

Sure, we expected to see flashbacks eventually of Olivia and Anna’s (Finola Hughes) epic battles that kept the show’s audience riveted, but today we were treated to one with Kimberly McCullough’s Robin.

The difference being the fact that it’s a real flashback, not just two women looking a little older, but rather revisiting the youth of an actress we saw literally grow up before our eyes. It’s fun to be reminded of what a powerhouse actress McCullough was even at such a young age.

While the kidnapping of Sam (Kelly Monaco) is heightened due to the character being pregnant, we can’t help but wish Olivia got her “two for one” that she wanted by grabbing Robin too.

Anna may be sick, but there would have been no way anyone could have stopped her from going after Olivia and those are fireworks we are longing to see.

Something tells us that is an epic story we will still get down the line, because these two women meeting again has to be the endgame – which will be explosive! And we can’t wait!
