General Hospital Star Jeff Kober Suggests Taking a Deep Breath

General Hospital can lay claim to having had a pantheon of supervillains who have passed through Port Charles over the decades. Among them is current baddie Cyrus Renault, played by actor Jeff Kober. While Cyrus may make people nervous, Kober specializes in helping folks calm down in real-life.

“The Yogis of ancient times wondered: If the condition of the mind is affecting one’s breath, is it possible to change the breathing rhythm so that the mind can be pacified?” Kober, who teaches meditation, posted on Instagram. “From this insight, many pranayamas (AKA yoga breathing exercises) came to be. A simple evidence – if you watch your breath or become aware of your breath, the breath slows down.

“If all of us just took a conscious breath once in a while, the world would be a much better place,” the actor adds. “Today, when I feel myself getting upset at traffic/him/her/them, I will pause and check in with my breathing, asking whether or not I am taking full breaths. Then I will take a full, conscious breath, and offer gratitude to the universe that I can do so. #tintype #meditation #wetplatecollodion #mattdoherty.”

Kober also includes in his post a link to the album Dignity by Matt Doherty whom he tags in his post.
