Yes, it seems completely out of left field that a long-time General Hospital (GH) mob enforcer would join an international spy agency intent on bringing dangerous criminals down… but maybe it’s what has to happen.

For decades, many GH fans asked themselves why it felt like nothing ever changed. Why did Jason seem to have no life outside protecting Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly (Laura Wright) and being at their beck and call? Why did he even often put them above Sam, the love of his life?

Besides, why did he jump right back into that life without even blinking the second he returned to town?

Sure, Sam (Kelly Monaco) wasn’t available, but the night he was allegedly killed they had finally become a family. Why did he not fight for her, but instead fall back into the life that took him away from her?

No, Jason Morgan is not a corporate suit and that’s why it was pretty obvious which one was Jason the moment Drew (Billy Miller) donned one and became CEO of Aurora Media. But, are WSB agents corporate suits? Heck no.

Let Drew have that Jason Quartermaine role Steve Burton didn’t want to play after Jason Q morphed into Jason M all those years ago.

Still, Jason M can still be Stone Cold, solving mysteries, and remain the adventuresome twin. He can just do it for the WSB and not Sonny Corinthos.

The one change we have seen in Jason since he returned to PC is how his relationship with Anna (Finola Hughes) has developed. He truly cares for her and Burton and Finola Hughes have an odd chemistry.

It’s not a romantic one, but it is one that could turn them into great friends, and yes, partners.

Jason Morgan can maintain his edge and even be with Sam as solving mysteries is her thing, but he will have evolved in the last 20+ years and that would be something else to see.

General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
