Eddie Alderson, who grew up before our eyes playing Matthew Buchanan on One Life to Live, began his battle with cancer in late 2016 and his motto ever since has been ‘No Surrender.’

Good News For Eddie Alderson

The young actor proves once again that motto is one that sticks as he has a new report on his condition. In September, the actor reported that there were no signs of cancer in his body.

“Today is a good day. A damn good day,” he posted on Instagram. “I’ve been quite private and selective about updating the status of my health the last few years. I’ve shared some of the down times and some of the good times. Today, I had a scan that showed no active disease in my body.”

This week, he revealed that a second look had shown the same result. “I got another clean scan today,” Alderson tweeted on Monday and soon got a response from his former One Life to Live co-star, who has also battled cancer in the last few years, Kassie DePaiva.

“Praises to God my dear boy,” DePaiva tweeted. The current Days of our Lives star learned she had leukemia a few months before Alderson’s diagnosis.

Since Alderson’s battle began, he has undergone several rounds of chemotherapy and underwent several surgeries to treat his lymphoma, with the continued support of his family, including his sister, former OLTL and General Hospital star Kristen Alderson.

Today is a good day. A damn good day. For the most part I’ve been quite private and selective about updating the status of my health the last few years. I’ve shared some of the down times and some of the good times. Today, I had a scan that showed no active disease in my body. For the first time in the past 3 years, I am done chemo and treatments. To think of all the ups and downs I (we) have gone through, this day is worth celebrating. I’ve used the phrase “No Surrender” these past 3 years to hopefully inspire some of you that nothing is worth giving up over. I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and look at where I am today. I am fucking proud of this day. I am proud of myself and ALL of the people who are fighting today or have fought. The impact that my family and friends and all of you’ve had on me has given me the drive to fight. I will always fight and spread awareness for #LLS This may not be the end of my fight, but this as damn close as you can get to shutting the damn door on cancer and saying GOODBYE. I will always be ready to fight. #NoSurrender 💚
