Garren Stitt has been impressing General Hospital fans with his heart-wrenching portrayal of a dying teenager. Here are some facts about the young actor.
Stitt joined the soap in 2017 as the young son of newcomer (well the character, not the actress) Kim Nero, played by Tamara Braun. As time went on, it was revealed that his father was none other than Drew Cain (Billy Miller).
Unfortunately for the character — but incredible for the young actor to have such meaty stuff to play — we now know that Oscar has a brain tumor and a short time to live. The resulting scenes of Oscar discovering this and confronting his parents has been incredibly moving — but not surprising from the talented young actor.
1. In the Beginning
Stitt was born on January 21, 2003 and raised by his single mother Yvette, along with his older brother Gabriel. They moved from Virginia on the east coast out west to California when he was just three-years-old. Stitt developed an interest in acting at a young age and was landing acting jobs around 2011.
2. Sing A Song
The handsome young man has interests outside of acting. He also has a beautiful singing voice and started releasing music to Spotify in early 2018.
3. Truth in Advertising
Stitt was once in a TV commercial for Volkswagen Golf Variant Duel with Cameron James McIntyre. In it, they were two competing neighbor kids. You can see it here.
4. Another Oscar
In 2013, Stitt appeared in the movie No Ordinary Hero: The SuperDeafy Movie with Oscar winner Marlee Matlin. It was about a deaf actor who plays a superhero on a TV show and must look beyond the cape to inspire a deaf boy to believe in himself.
5. Early Successes
Before landing in Port Charles, Stitt had recurring rolez on the TV show Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn, as well as Andi Mack.
