In the August 3 episode of General Hospital, Jason informed Sonny that he could no longer work for him for Danny’s sake. After losing Sam and what Jason put Danny through by protecting Rocco and being imprisoned, Jason vowed that his son would be his priority. It’s about time for sure, but it still leaves one question. What about Jake?

Finally Jason Is In Father Mode
Look, ever since his kids were born, Jason (Steve Burton) has been an absentee dad for various reasons. The main reason, though, was always his kids’ safety. Jason’s most recent dealings with the law and leaving Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) with a parent brought a shift in the former enforcer.
When Jason returned to Port Charles, he was different. Instead of instantly making a beeline for Carly (Laura Wright) and Sonny (Maurice Benard), Jason went away to spend alone time with Danny.
Jason’s decision to leave the mob only further proved that being a father had become his number one priority. The talk between Jason and Sonny just showed how much Jason needs to put Danny first.
It was great but lacking because, once again, GH didn’t even acknowledge that Jason has another son.
GH Needs to Stop Ignoring Jake
The ABC soap appears focused on showing this fatherly side of Jason. However, it isn’t landing right without any mention of Jake (Hudson West) at all. Not once during his talk with Sonny did Jason bring up Jake.
All GH had to do was include one line of dialogue in which Jason remembers he has another child. The show so easily could have shown Jason’s desire to have a relationship with Jake, who always seems like an afterthought.
Jason, as a father, like a focused and devoted father hasn’t really been done yet on the show. It’s a great story idea and could be done well if it is explored with all his children.
If GH doesn’t want to bring Jake back, fine. Personally, I think the character is needed for many reasons. However, the show at least needs to stop having Jason act like he only has one child.
One example could be Jason and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) having a conversation about Jake. Jason could act interested in his son in any capacity other than ignoring that Jake exists.
