The last time Sonny and Ava had sex on General Hospital, they were in a crypt, and it was their way of demonstrating how much they despised each other.
Sex And The Crypt
Sonny (Maurice Benard) was furious with Ava (Maura West) for sleeping with his son, Morgan (Bryan Craig), and Ava was furious at Sonny for being furious with her for sleeping with Morgan. So they slept with each other. It made sense to them, if not to us.
That little bout of crypt sex led to the birth of young Avery (Ava and Grace Scarola). Sonny and Ava have been hatefully co-parenting ever since. But, lately, their icy relationship has thawed. Now that Sonny is furious with his latest wife, Nina (Cynthia Watros), is it time for him and Ava to try having sex without the hate this time around?
Till Death Do They Part
While Sonny may be furious with Nina, he still loves her and would never cheat on her. That would give her too much of the moral high ground and we all know Sonny hates that.

Sisters Before Misters
Let’s not forget that Ava (Maura West) and Nina are friends. Neither one of them has too many of those. Ava wouldn’t want to risk losing her BFF. Or to risk getting pregnant again. Considering what Nina did the last time that happened. (In all fairness, she was in the middle of a psychotic break when she delivered Avery and kidnapped her.)
Done Deal
Then again, Sonny and Ava have never had an actual affair before. That would be something new for both of them. Back in the crypt, they hated each other. Now, they’ve actually worked together and wiped away some of the dislike. So maybe they’d like to see what “I don’t absolutely hate you” sex is like.
One More Time
What’s a cross between an affair and a one-night stand? Ava and Sonny sleep together once thinking it might turn into something more, but it doesn’t. Because Nina is Ava’s friend. Because Sonny still loves Nina. And because Avery doesn’t need any more siblings.
