On Monday, General Hospital (GH) showed a very different side of Ava – and if Alexis had been sober, it may have shocked her as much as it did us.
Despite being in-laws, there has never been much affection or frankly tolerance between Ava Jerome (Maura West) and Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn).
Ava always felt the lawyer looked down her nose at her (and she wasn’t exactly wrong), while Ava’s nefarious dealings certainly kept Alexis on edge.
But both women loved Julian Jerome (William deVry). Neither would dispute that (until the dagger incident, at least). Not that Ava held it against Alexis since she knew that her brother did try to kill her. Granted, he was ticked off since Alexis wore a wire but still…(And, apparently he was doing it all for Crazy Sister No. 1.)
And yet, Ava also knows how hard her brother worked to get his ex-wife sober. So it was defeating for her to see that Alexis fell off the wagon, especially now when she was seeking her help to find Julian.
Rather than use it to her advantage, Ava offered to take Alexis to a meeting. She also threatened to tell her girls if she didn’t comply.

Alexis called up all the bravado she could muster to get rid of Ava, leaving the younger woman disappointed.
“Good thing he’s not here to see what’s become of his sacrifice. Because this weak, pathetic woman I’m looking at, you’re no longer worth saving,” spewed Ava.
Who knows if Ava will make good on the threat to tell Alexis’s daughters — but it was an interesting turn of events to say the very least. Both actresses are powerhouses, and it’s always a treat to see them go at each other.
SIDEBAR: While it was awesome to see Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Laura (Genie Francis) talk about fighting for a marriage, it would have been nice to see Laura give us insight about what happened with the end of hers to Luke – only the most famous marriage in the history of soaps. It was a missed opportunity, GH, and so disappointing.
