If a soap character didn’t have a scheme, he or she would have no reason to get up in the morning.
It’s as routine as brushing your teeth. Which means that, in order to be named General Hospital’s Top Schemer of 2016, our winner had to go above and beyond the ordinary, crossing into an area of exemplary plotting.
Who did almost 5,000 fans choose to bestow this honor on? (And did said schemer stuff the ballot box? You know you wouldn’t put it past them!)

Top of the World!
For 53% of you, Ava’s (Maura West) 2016, which included threatening Paul (Richard Burgi), aiding in Nikolas’ (Tyler Christopher) escape (and blackmailing him along the way), seducing Valentin (James Patrick Stuart), switching out Morgan’s (Bryan Craig) bipolar medication, and hiring a hit-man to provoke him into a fight, was plenty of reason to name her as GH’s biggest schemer.
For Ava, it was just another year. Doubt she would change anything, even if she could….
You’d think Carly (Laura Wright) would be having some serious deja vu right around now. Perky and adorable blonde moves to Port Charles, ingratiates herself with reformed bad girl turned (slightly less) bad girl, next thing you know, she’s in bed with her benefactor’s husband!
Granted, Carly was a completely different person then, but Bobbie (Jacklyn Zeman) is certainly feeling the similarities. And so are the rest of you. A full 46% picked Nelle (Chloe Lanier) as 2016’s top schemer. Are we seeing the next Carly in the making?
A small 1% of you don’t like being told whom to vote for. You prefer your own candidates, which included Franco (Roger Howarth), Julian (William deVry), Valentin, Carly, Sonny (Maurice Benard), Hayden (Rebecca Budig), and even Liz (Rebecca Herbst)! Will one of the above snatch the title from Ava and her runner-up, Nelle, next year? Watch and see!
