Entertainment News: An Olympic Sized Problem

Japan declared a state of emergency amid another surge in Covid cases. The competition will continue, but no spectators are allowed. Camera crews are still welcome and NBC’s coverage begins on July 23.

Romance and Wedding Bells

Last week Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton applied for a marriage license and as predicted, they said “I do.” The couple took to the altar during the long July 4th weekend for an uber-romantic and much-anticipated ceremony. E! Online had all the photos.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were also in the news. The rekindled couple spent time with Jenn’s children on a family vacation in the Hamptons. People Magazine reported Ben is getting close to her kids.

American Picker co-host Mike Wolfe made headlines this week. No sooner did his wife, Jodi, file for divorce than he went public with his new romance. According to TMZ, he is already linked up with model Leticia Cline.

Piping Hot Reali-Tea

TLC’s Sister Wives husband Kody Brown tried and failed to add a fifth wife to his family this week. According to sources, the popular polygamist was courting a 25-year-old prospect and popped the question. She said no, though, leaving Kody and his wives in the dust.

RHOBH star Erika Jayne was in a whole lot of trouble this week. A judge ruled she can be held responsible for paying back her husband’s embezzlement victims to the tune of $11 million. On top of that, she was dropped by Rhianna’s company as a Fenty model.

RHOC’s Shannon Beador dropped a lawsuit against Facebook this week. The reality star cited the platform allows third-party vendors to use her image to sell shady diet pills. She wants it stopped and is going after the social media platform.

Entertainment News: Courtroom Sagas

It was another big week for pop-star Britney Spears. She sent in her resignation to her music manager, her court-appointment counsel, Sam Ingham quit, and her Personal Conservator Jodi Montgomery asked for her estate to provide funds to beef up her own security.

TMZ reports Lynne Spears finally stepped up for her daughter. She asked the courts to appoint a new lawyer to help Spears end the guardianship once and for all.

OJ Simpson was in the news again. He is out of jail but not out of trouble. The former football star and murder suspect is still battling a judgment in the civil suit over the deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. In Touch Weekly reported on the $60 million worth of legal woes.

In Memorium

The world of entertainment will not be the same as we say goodbye to two legends. Suzzanne Douglas passed away at age 64 this week. The actress was best known for her role as Jerri Peterson in the ’90s sitcom The Parent ‘Hood.

Robert Downey Jr. announced his father’s passing. The 85-year-old actor and director rose to fame in such films as Putney Swope, Boogie Nights, and Magnolia. Robert Downey Sr. died at 85 years old after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
