Sadly, all good things must come to an end. Now, the stars of a hit, long-running ABC sitcom are getting ready to go off the air. With that comes many ‘lasts.’ Recently, the show had its final table read.
Last Table Read For Modern Family
A table read is when the entire cast, producers, writers, executives gather around a table to read a script aloud. Sofia Vergara (Gloria) of Modern Family is sharing on her Instagram account photos of the show’s last gathering for a table read.
“Our last table read😪 sad because its ending but so gratefull and happy to have been able to be part of this family,” Vegara posted. “It has being More than I ever dreamed of or deserved❤️ Gracias my Modern Family.”

Cast member Ty Burrell (Phil) has been preparing for this finale since last year. In August, he posted a group shot of the show’s cast (look at how the actors who began the show as young children on the show have grown over the years!) with one simple word: “Emotions.”

Modern Family is a ratings hit, a critical darling, and an Emmy favorite. The show has won the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series five times. Stonestreet and Burrell have each won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series twice. Bowen has won the Emmy twice for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
Modern Family was created by Steve Levitan and Christopher Lloyd (who is wed to Days of our Lives funny lady Arleen Sorkin, ex-Caliope.) The show has won a total of 22 Emmys. Currently, the longest-running sitcom on ABC, Modern Family airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
