Jon Lindstrom and Cady McClain – their onscreen coupling was a match made in hell, but off-screen, the pair’s romance seems to be heaven-sent.
How Did Jon Lindstrom and Cady McClain Meet?
In the wake of 9/11, and after a decade of playing simpering backwoods heroine Dixie Cooney on All My Children, actress Cady McClain decided that major changes were in order.
Though she initially planned to attend New York University, McClain instead accepted an offer extended by the producer of As the World Turns to take over the role of bitchy heiress Rosanna Cabot. A most fortuitous decision it turns out because it eventually put her in direct contact with her future husband.
But according to Lindstrom, it wasn’t exactly love at first sight. “It didn’t hurt that we were playing characters that were falling in love. But that’s not necessarily how it happened.”
Instead, a romance blossomed, thanks to public transportation and similarity in schedules and geography. “ATWT shot on a stage way out in the middle of Brooklyn, and Cady and I both lived in Manhattan. We would finish our scenes and be done around the same time, so we often ended up taking the hour-long train ride back to Manhattan together and got to know each other that way. We got to be very, very good friends before anything else transpired.”
That “anything else” wound up being Lindstrom’s realization that “I’d met this really amazing person… who was hugely intelligent and creative.”

Love and Marriage
Off that epiphany, the duo began dating in earnest and by December of 2012, they were engaged to be married. Two years later, on February 14, the two were declared husband and wife in a low-key yet intimate ceremony at the Beverly Hills courthouse.
A reception was held at the couple’s home afterward. The meal was catered by a burger truck and a bar was set up in the backyard. Among the invited guests were the bride’s sister, the groom’s parents, and his General Hospital co-stars Lynn Herring, Kin Shriner, and John J. York. A honeymoon in Mexico followed.
Says Lindstrom, “There was never a chance we were going to do a big thing… We are very private people and we don’t like to share those things. We’re not into pomp and circumstance.”

In April of 2014, McClain published a memoir entitled Murdering My Youth in which she bravely revealed that she had been sexually abused her father. During an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight’s Cameron Mathison (ex-Ryan, AMC), McClain credited her newly-minted husband as a source of strength and the person who helped imbue her with the courage to speak out and, most importantly, heal.
“I was honestly able to overcome the sexual abuse by my father because of the love of my husband. The incredible love that Jon has given me, the total acceptance of who I am, that I am not the sum of my experiences, but who I am in spite of that.”
