While Hollywood was used to seeing older man/younger woman relationships, both onscreen and off, seeing those roles reversed with Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore and their 16-year age gap, took many by surprise — and yet the romance of it all warmed the hearts of many fans.

Despite the fact that they ultimately didn’t work out, their relationship took Hollywood by storm. From how the couple first met to their eventual split, find out more about this once-great celebrity romance.

How Did Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher Meet?

Kutcher and Moore met back in 2003 at a dinner in New York City following her divorce from ex-husband Bruce Willis. The pair reportedly talked for hours after the meal and were inseparable from the get-go.

Red Carpet Official
After a few months of quietly dating, the couple made their first public appearance together at Moore’s Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle premiere in Los Angeles in June 2003. And, not only were they being open about their love, but Kutcher even decided to convert to Kabbalah because Moore had just started practicing the religion.

Wedding
Following two years of dating, Ashton Kutcher and Moore decided to get married in a very private ceremony in Beverly Hills on September 24, 2005. The wedding was attended by around 150 of the couple’s closest friends and family, including Moore’s three daughters and Willis. The ceremony was conducted by a Rabbi of the Kabbalah Center.

The Difficulties

Though Moore already had three kids from her previous marriage to Willis, she recently opened up in her new memoir, Inside Out, that she tried to have kids with Kutcher too. She revealed that she suffered a miscarriage six months into her pregnancy prior to the couple getting married. They knew they were having a baby girl and were going to name her Chaplin Ray. The couple tried to conceive again, but it didn’t happen.

Parting Ways

After more than six years of marriage, Demi Moore announced her plans to divorce Kutcher on November 17, 2011. The news of their split came after years of cheating accusations and breakup rumors.
