How Did Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin Meet?
The two stars met in 2002 backstage at a Coldplay concert. Their introduction occurred just a few weeks after Paltrow lost her father, Bruce Paltrow, and Martin helped her through the grieving process. In fact, Martin wrote one of Coldplay’s most famous songs, Fix You, about supporting the actress during the tough period.
Wedding
Just one year after meeting, the couple tied the knot in a very private wedding on December 5, 2003. The ceremony occurred in California and no family members were in attendance, not even Paltrow’s mother, actress Blythe Danner.

Starting a Family
Their wedding happened just two days after they announced they were expecting their first child. Paltrow gave birth to their daughter, Apple Blythe Alison, on May 14, 2004, in London. They then revealed they were expecting their second child in January of 2006 and welcomed son, Moses Bruce Anthony, on April 8, 2006.
Parting Ways
After over a decade of marriage, Paltrow announced her split from Martin on her Goop website on March 25, 2014. Paltrow then filed for divorce in April of the following year and it became official on July 14, 2016.
Staying Close
Despite their split, Paltrow and Martin remain very close and still see each other often. In fact, Martin is friends with Paltrow’s second husband, Brad Falchuck, while Paltrow is close to Martin’s girlfriend, actress Dakota Johnson. The former couple has opened up about staying close for the sake of their children and wanting to keep their family intact, though they’re no longer romantically together.
