White Lotus is halfway through its third season, and the drama is finally intensifying for several characters staying at the Thailand resort. After a local celebration that found three of the privileged vacationers targeted and water gunned, and Belinda recognized Tanya’s toxic ex-husband Greg (who goes by Gary now), the danger is escalating. But we noticed that one of the actors helping drum up the drama and the comedy of the show has soap roots. Which actor is it?
Soap Opera and White Lotus Connections
If you recall, in the first memorable season of White Lotus, Murray Bartlett, formerly of Guiding Light, played Armond, one of the season’s most integral roles. For this, the soap alum ultimately won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
During the hit drama’s second season, Meghann Fahy earned an Emmy nod playing Theo James’s other half, Daphne Sullivan. Fahy played the recurring role of troubled Llanview University student Hannah O’Connor on One Life to Live.
The Southern Pill-Popping Mom
Could an Emmy nod be in Parker Posey’s White Lotus future? After all, her performance as Jason Isaac’s southern-drawling, pill-popping UNC Chapel-Hill-loving mom of three, Victoria Ratliff, has been getting buzz this season….for her performance and her character’s accent.

Like Bartlett and Fahy, Posey’s acting past includes a stint on soaps. The Josie and the Pussycats actress played Tess Shelby on As the World Turns back in the early ’90s. Tess was related to everybody’s favorite Oakdale police detective, Hal Munson (the late Benjamin Hendrickson). And she apparently dated both Paul Ryan (Andrew Kavovit) and Hutch (Judson Mills).
Since Posey’s daytime soap days, she has starred in countless movies and TV shows, including Dazed and Confused, You’ve Got Mail, Waiting for Guffman, and Netflix’s Lost in Space. Last year, she was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama for her work on Prime Video’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
