Gilmore Girl alum Alexis Bledel is on her way to singledom. She and Vincent Kartheiser are ending their 8 year marriage. The couple wed in 2014 and share a child together. She filed the paperwork on August 10th.
JoJo Siwa and Kylie Prew are off again. The Dance Mom alum confirmed the break up during a live stream on TikTok. This is the second time the couple ended things.
Illness and Injury
Buffy the Vampire’s Nicholas Brendon was in the hospital after suffering another cardiac incident. The 51-year-old actor is on the mend, according to his manager. This is the second scare since his surgery last year for Cauda Equina, a rare nerve condition.
Jonah Hill has deleted his social media and announced he will no longer promote his films due to an anxiety disorder. The 38-year-old is putting himself and his mental health first as he continues on the next journey of his career by not attending public events.
Travis Barker can’t seem to catch a break. Just weeks after suffering with pancreatitis he has tested positive for Covid. He announced the diagnosis to his fans via his Instagram account.
Entertainment News: Celebrity Scandals & Hot Topics
Country singer Michelle Branch was arrested after a domestic dispute with her soon-to-be-ex husband. The incident, which happened Thursday, August 11, took place shortly after she announced she was separating from Patrick Carney.
Frank Grillo spoke out about gun violence this week after the shocking murder of his boxing trainer, Azuma Bennett. The deadly shooting left Bennett dead after he was shot eight times.
Ezra Miller checked himself into treatment for complex mental health issues. This comes after multiple arrest warrants, abuse allegations, and shocking behavior including complaints he was exhibiting grooming behavior towards a young adult.
Jon and Kate Gosling are back in the news. This time, Jon accuses his ex-wife of stealing upwards of $100k from two of their children. Kate claims she merely borrowed the funds and intends on paying the loans back.
New dad A$AP Rocky was charged with assault with a semi-automatic firearm. These charges stem from an incident with a former friend in November. HIs arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday, August 24th.
R. Kelly is back on trial, this time for the sexual assault of his former goddaughter. She alleged Kelly began assaulting her when she was 15 years old and the abuse occurred hundreds of times. TMZ has the details.
WWE’s Vince McMahon is under fire once again. This time for unrecorded funds he donated to former President Donald Trump. It is alleged he funnelled funds to the now-defunct J. Trump Foundation and also paid Trump an addition $1 million for an appearance.
Brad Pitt took over headlines twice this week. First, news broke that his ex-wife Angelina Jolie is the plaintiff in and FBI lawsuit related to abuse allegations against him. Then, later in the week, his company reached a $20 million dollar settlement with Katrina victims over a series of faulty homes.
News broke on Saturday that Gary Busey is in legal trouble. The 78-year-old super star was charged with three sex crimes. It is alleged the incidents, involving two separate women, occurred last month. Dateline has the full story.
Casting & Changes
Canadian news icon Lisa LaFlamme shared she was let go from her 35-year position as CTV’s national news anchor. The bombshell was not met well, especially after a senior executive leaked there were a lot of questions about LaFlemme naturally aging on camera, citing her grey hair being a hot topic at the office.
Viola Davis is joining The Hunger Games franchise. She is taking a villainous role in ‘The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.’ Watch for her as the head gamer, Dr. Volumnia Gaul.
Gwyneth Paltrow will soon appear on Shark Tank. She’s joining as a guest shark for season 14, as is DoorDash CEO Tony Xu. Her debut date has yet to be announced.
Jordan Elsass is exiting Superman & Lois. The actor is taking a step back as Jonathan Kent for personal reasons. TV Line reports the role will be recast.
Entertainment News: In Memoriam
Highly acclaimed German writer and director Wolfgang Peterson passed away this week of pancreatic cancer. Best known for such classics as Das Boot, In the Line of Fire, Air Force One, and The Perfect Storm, Peterson was 81.
It was a sad day for Stanley Kubrick fans upon hearing about the loss of actor and longtime assistant Leon Vitali on August 20. The Barry Lyndon actor spent the last few years supervising the restoration of Kubrick’s film works. He was 74.
Richard Engel’s family is in mourning this week after the loss of his son. Six-year-old Henry Engel passed away on August 18th after battling Rett Syndrome. The NBC anchor announced the devastating news on his social media.
The woman to open Australia’s first casting agency passed away on August 18th. Hilary Linstead was influential in her role as an agent, casting director, and film producer during her career that spanned over 50 years. She was 83 years old.
