She’s been labeled one of Time Magazine’s Time 100, the Best Artist of 2013, and one of the greatest recording artists of all times. And now, Miley Cyrus – singer, songwriter, actress, and record producer – is gaining a new accolade: the title of birthday girl!

And that’s because she was born on November 23, 1992, in Franklin, Tennessee, which means that this talented multi-hyphen is turning 28 years old today! Christened Destiny Hope, her nickname as a child was reportedly Smiley, matching her disposition, but eventually shortened to Miley. Her godmother is the legendary Dolly Parton.
Cyrus made her acting debut opposite her father, country music star Billy Ray Cyrus, in the medical drama Doc (2001), which whet her appetite for acting.
Subsequently, Cyrus appeared in the Tim Burton-directed feature film Big Fish (2003). In 2006, she was hired to star in the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana as Miley Stewart and her eponymous alter-ego. She remained in the role for four seasons.
The sitcom’s success resulted in the release of a soundtrack, featuring Cyrus’s vocals, which topped the Billboard 200 charts in the United States. This led to the release of a sequel album, Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus (2007).
Cyrus’s second studio album, Breakout, was released in June of 2008. That was followed by the soundtrack to the Hannah Montana feature film (2009), and an EP titled The Time of Our Lives (2009).

Cyrus’s later albums include Can’t Be Tamed (2010), Bangerz (2013), Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz (2015), Younger Now (2017), and Plastic Hearts (2020).
Among her work as an actress, are the pictures The Last Song (2010), LOL (2012), and the comedy So Undercover (2012), as well as episodes of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody (2006), Two and a Half Men (2012), Black Mirror (2019), and the Woody Allen directed miniseries Crisis in Six Scenes (2016).
Cyrus also voiced a character in the animated film Bolt (2008), and she spent three seasons on The Voice alternating between coaching the contestants and judging their performances.
Aside from her acting and music career, Cyrus is known for her activism, including her founding of the non-profit Hippie Foundation, as well as her advocacy for animal rights. On the personal front, she is now divorced from Liam Hemsworth.
