Multiple outlets are reporting that Rick Schroder has been arrested on charges of domestic violence. At press time, he was in custody on $50,000.
Fox News is among the news channels saying that the former NYPD Blue star was arrested early Wednesday after the police investigated a call of domestic violence at 12:43 a.m. in Los Angeles.
“When deputies arrived, they made contact with the suspect and the victim,” Deputy Juanita Navarro said, adding authorities “identified evidence of a physical altercation.”
Schroder was arrested for domestic violence and booked at the Malibu Loft Hills Sherriff’s Station.
A rep said that this is the second time the police have gone to Schroder’s residence. The previous one occurred on April 2 at approximately 12:26 a.m., but due to a lack of evidence, that case isn’t being pursued, according to TMZ.
Schroder’s other credits include roles on Silver Spoons, Strong Medicine, and 24, but his first role was as the adorable TJ opposite Jon Voight, who played the title role in the 1979 film The Champ, earning him a place in America’s hearts with his tender performance.
The Champ told the story about a down-on-his-luck boxer who loved his son more than anything in the world.
His most recent credit is Dolly Parton’s Christmas Of Many Colors: Circle Of Love. In that he played the father of Dolly Parton, played by Alyvia Alyn Lind (Faith, The Young and the Restless).
