Yvonne Strahovski is one of the stars in The Handmaid’s Tale — which has won a number of Emmys and Golden Globes. Though fans of the show know her as the very complicated Serena Waterford, she has also been in some other famous shows through the years.

Not Made In The USA
Strahovski plays an American on television, but in reality, she’s Australian! So yes, that accent she has in The Handmaid’s Tale is 100% acting. Her parents are from Poland, so she also speaks Polish. They moved to Australia before she was born.
Getting Personal
In summer of 2017, she married actor/producer Tim Loden, her boyfriend of more than six years, in Northern California. They have a son who was born in October of 2018.
First Big Role
Despite working in Australia for a number of years before moving to America, her first big television role was as Sarah Walker on the NBC show, Chuck, opposite Zachary Levi, who is currently wowing audiences in Shazam! and the current season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
Voice Actor
Along with working in television, the 36-year-old has also done a good deal of voice work for a number of video games. Her voice is on Mass Effect Galaxy, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3.
Emmy Nominee
Strahovski earned her first Emmy nomination for playing Serena Waterford last year. Though she was also in Season 1 of The Handmaid’s Tale, her character had quite the arc in Season 2.
