The big reveal of the Dancing With The Stars cast for the show’s astounding 25th season earlier this week revealed the big (and not so big) names competing for the coveted Mirrorball trophy.

Leading up to the hype, soap fans had hoped to see at least one of their favorite daytime thespians among the thrilling lineup. In fact, Soap Hub took an informal poll of viewers to find out how they felt about seeing a soap star on DWTS, and the results were nearly unanimous!

Soaps For The (Mirrorball) Win!
For 92% of over 4,000 votes tallied, you would absolutely tune into the ABC primetime dancing extravaganza to cheer on a fave. Not only that, but you would faithfully cast your vote in support of the burgeoning dancer each week in hopes of seeing him or her advance through the rounds.

You surely remember General Hospital (GH) star Kelly Monaco (Sam), who actually won the show’s inaugural season! From early on, soaps ruled the nighttime dance contest. Monaco returned in season 15 to take third place!

The same season that Monaco won, she had stiff competition from John O’Hurley, who starred on a plethora of soaps including All My Children, Santa Barbara, The Young and the Restless, General Hospital, As the World Turns, and The Edge of Night.

Other soap stars who appeared on DWTS include Tia Carrere (Jade, GH), Lisa Rinna (Billie, DOOL), Vivica A. Fox (Carmen, DOOL; Stephanie, YR), Cameron Mathison (Ryan, AMC), Susan Lucci (Erica, AMC), and Gilles Marini (Dr. Gohde, BB).

So have Aiden Turner (Aiden, AMC), David Hasselhoff (Snapper, YR), JR Martinez (Brot, AMC), Jack Wagner (Frisco, GH; Dominic, BB), Ingo Rademacher (Jax, GH), Corbin Bleu (Jeffrey, OLTL), Jonathan Bennett (JR, AMC), and Antonio Sabato Jr. (Jagger, GH; Dante, BB).

Unfortunately, this year the show didn’t include a soap star, which makes fans feel less than thrilled.

DWTS No Go
For the remaining 8% of you, soap star or not, you don’t want to watch the dancing competition. Perhaps you think it’s played out at 25 seasons, or you just don’t enjoy dancing in the first place.
