Former Bachelor star Ben Higgins was just as shocked as the rest of us when he heard about Amanda Stanton’s domestic violence arrest.
Though the Bachelor in Paradise star is doing fine, Ben opened up about the arrest to Us Weekly on Friday, October 5.
“It’s unfortunate. Amanda is one of those people who I have not a close relationship with, but a relationship,” he shared.
“She’s been kind to me, she’s made me feel like somebody she still wants to be friends with, or at least respects to some level. So I know Amanda’s character and I know that when I read this, I was shocked.”
Amanda was arrested back in September following an incident involving her boyfriend, Bobby Jacobs, in Las Vegas.
“I also know that I’ve done things in my life, or there have been nights where you drink too much or you’ve done something stupid, something that in the morning, you know you shouldn’t have done it,” he said.
“I don’t know the details of what happened and I don’t even want to claim to, or I don’t want to even claim that I have an idea.”

Ben also is happy to see that the couple is still together, despite the altercation.
“All I know is that whatever happened that night was unfortunate for both parties, but it seems like they’re still together and it seems like they’re happier, that’s what I see at least on social media,” Ben said.
“So if it was able to be figured out by the law enforcement, be figured out by the couple, I would say that I hope that whatever happened that night doesn’t happen again.”
A source close to Amanda opened up about the arrest shortly after it occurred.
“Amanda is embarrassed and ashamed this happened and sincerely apologizes to hotel security and the Las Vegas Police Department. Amanda is a gentle, respectful person who has never gotten physical with anyone under any circumstance,” the source said to Us Weekly.
“That evening she had a few drinks at a bachelorette party and when hotel security asked her and Bobby to quiet down, she got a bit rambunctious. Amanda gave Bobby what she thought was a playful shove; hotel security did their job and reported the incident to the police, who in turn did their job.”
The source continued, “Despite Bobby explaining this was not an ill-intended shove, the police still had to do their job which Amanda completely respects and understands.”
