This week was Hometown Dates on The Bachelor, which was clearly stressful for Colton Underwood. While some families were definitely more welcoming than others, there was one father in particular that put a wrench in a perticular relationship.
To be specific, Cassie’s father, Matt Randolph, did not give Underwood his blessing to propose to his daughter, which obviously upset the 27-year-old.
Though Randolph wasn’t critical of Underwood, he did have issues with the fact that he’s dating three other women.
“I didn’t have a strong initial opinion of Colton because I don’t like to draw judgment too quickly,” he said.
“I could tell Colton was being affectionate with Cassie. I don’t know if that’s what he does with all the girls he goes out with. We don’t know him. He seemed like a … guy.”
To make matters worse, he didn’t give Underwood permission to propose to his daughter.
“I think that a lifelong commitment, that’s big, and shouldn’t be taken at all lightly. Too often I think it’s done without enough thought. As far as the hand in marriage, that would be a premature blessing,” her dad explained to Underwood.
“I didn’t get her dad’s blessing, and that’s really disappointing,” the former NFL player shared.
“That’s not exactly what I wanted to hear. I think Cassie can make me very happy, and I think I’d have a great life with her.”
And, to make things even harder for Underwood, she didn’t tell him she loved him at the end of the night.
“I want to be 100 percent confident in anything I’m going to say to you, that’s really important to me. I’m really excited about where everything can go,” she said.
