Fans of The Bachelor know leading man Colton Underwood decided to quit the show, if only for a brief moment, partway through taping.
While the situation was tense for those involved, it actually made ABC executive Robert Mills have a surprising reaction.
Not only will the incident, which is supposed to play out in the coming weeks, increase ratings, but it also has never happened before in the show’s history.
“To be honest, I got kind of excited. It’s something we’ve never seen before. To be more than 20 seasons in and have something new that no one’s seen before play out is actually great,” the exec recently told Entertainment Tonight.
“The other thing you think about is — is he OK? Whether this ends up with him engaged, married, single, dumped, you want to make sure he’s OK.”
He continued, “You never want this to be the biggest mistake of someone’s life. … We just let it play out real, and then we figure out the rest.”
The 27-year-old hasn’t revealed what led him to want to quit the show while they were filming months ago, but we can only assume it’s going to be dramatic.
Not to mention, this week’s upcoming episode of The Bachelor will show Colton jumping over a fence to find privacy.
While this could be the moment he called it quits, it could also be about something we don’t even know about!
Needless to say, this season has been full of ups and downs, and we only have a couple more weeks left until Colton decides with whom he wants to leave the show.
Though we don’t know if he leaves the show engaged, Colton has revealed that he’s the happiest he’s ever been.
