For most of this year, Marlena – and her portrayer, Deidre Hall – have had very little to do in Salem.
Now with new head writer Ron Carlivati’s scripts airing, she is pulling double duty with Hattie also being in town. But are Days of Our Lives (DOOL) fans enjoying it?
It does take a suspension of belief for viewers whenever an actor has to play a duel role. Sometimes it’s like lightening in a bottle – and the fans are overjoyed. Sometimes it lays a rotten egg. Soap Hub was wondering which this was for fans.
End It Now!
After almost 5,500 votes were tallied, an overwhelming 83% say that they hate this storyline and they want it to end right now. Chances are it has nothing to do with Deidre Hall’s portrayal of both women but rather it’s something else entirely.
Basically, fans hate to see Marlena in jeopardy – especially if it keeps her apart from her true love, John (Drake Hogestyn). The two characters have been apart for so long, it seemed they were finally about to be happy when this happened! Say it ain’t so!

Double the Pleasure
It seems that 17% are absolutely thrilled with this turn of events. You’ve wanted more of Hall and now you get double the pleasure! This legendary actress has a ball playing someone completely different in Hattie and it’s obvious, making it fun for viewers.
For some of you, this is the chance you’ve been waiting for to see Marlena back with Roman (Josh Taylor), even if it is a new actor in the role.
You remember when Roman was the love of Marlena’s life and even though it’s Hattie, you’re still getting a little bit of that magic.
You know that Anjelica’s (Morgan Fairchild) plot can’t last forever and you’re determined to enjoy it while it lasts.
