When Will was presumed dead, Sonny found love again on Days of Our Lives and was about to marry Paul.

With his father Justin (Wally Kurth) presiding over the wedding, Sonny (Freddie Smith) poured out his heart to Paul (Christopher Sean), while also acknowledging that he had once loved Will (Chandler Massey). When he mentioned him, John (Drake Hogestyn) did his best to comfort Marlena (Deidre Hall).
