Days of Our Lives (DOOL) star Victoria Konefal talks about her character’s unexpected pairing with Ben, the reformed serial killer.
The actress spoke with TV Insider about her reaction after hearing that the writers planned to pair her with Robert Scott Wilson’s Ben.
“When I was briefed on who Ben was and what he’d done, I was excited to be sharing scenes with Robert. It means extra drama and more fun,” she enthused. After all, the more drama, the better on a soap.
“I love the craziness of his character and was curious to see how they’d work him into Ciara’s story. Robert’s incredibly talented. He dives into his work and seeing that made me really excited to be acting with him.”
The setup for the two characters, sticking them both in the same room and forcing them to have to deal with each other seems like a recipe for success, but was she on board for this?
“I thought it was brilliant on the writers’ part to have Ben and Ciara share scenes in the cabin. It puts Ciara in a state of mind where she’s terrified because she knows Ben’s history and the history of the cabin.”

And anytime you can rachet up the drama, there’s potential for huge dividends. In this case, the setup was perfect. The good girl helping a bad boy reform is as a tale as old as time.
It was the blueprint for Ciara’s own parents, Bo and Hope. When asked whether it could work for Ciara with Ben, the actress suggested putting on the brakes.
“I think it’s getting way ahead to think of Ben and Ciara as a romantic couple. They’ve just met and have barely started. As of right now, I think Tripp [Lucas Adams] and Ciara are more the ‘OTP [One True Pairing].'”
She makes a great point — there seems to be rooting value for both of Ciara’s choices, which means if the show goes with a triangle, it just might have a hit on their hands.
