The Joey and Tripp Dilemma: Stephen Nichols Gives His Take

Kayla Johnson is one angry mama on Days of Our Lives (DOOL). For more than a year, she’s tried to shield her baby boy from the law, knowing full well he killed Ava because he wanted to protect her.

And, just last week she had to deal with Steve’s long-lost son trying to kill her because he thought SHE killed Ava. Joey (James Lastovic) finally confessed and now he wants to pay for his crime–and it looks like Steve wants to let him.

Fans can totally see why Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) is fiercely angry and against this as Steve doesn’t seem to want his other son to pay for what HE did.

This weekend, several fans took to Twitter to address the story and point out that DAYS has NOT addressed the fact that Steve wasn’t even around during much of Joey’s childhood, with Kayla having to raise him on her own.

Many don’t want Kayla to look like the bad guy while she protects her son, who could end up in jail, while Steve bonds with another son he never knew he had.

It looks like Stephen Nichols was following along, because he chimed into this little Twitter debate with his own take, tweeting:

“I understand. It probably could have been handled with a bit more finesse. True, the gap i.e.Steve’s absence was never addressed. Stay tuned.”

So, will new head writer Ron Carlivati address the elephant in the room previous writers let fall by the wayside? It looks like that might just happen and if it does, it can make for some pretty dramatic storytelling for one of DAYS’ most popular couples ever.
