Back in February on Days of Our Lives, Stephanie’s kidnapping rocked Salem—and while Jeremy was initially the prime suspect, the shocking truth revealed Owen Hunt as the real culprit. The ordeal left lasting emotional scars, something actress Abigail Klein is now unpacking in a revealing conversation with Soap Hub during a Star Struck Fan Events appearance in New Jersey.

Key Takeaways

  • Klein said Stephanie doesn’t “even know who [she is] anymore” as Stephanie reaches an emotional breaking point.
  • Alex’s shocking baby news sends Stephanie deeper into emotional turmoil.
  • Stephanie reconnects with Jeremy, risking major misunderstandings with Alex.

Stephanie’s Got a Gun

This week, Stephanie heads to a gun range with her father, Steve (Stephen Nichols), and Brady (Eric Martsolf), but it isn’t just target practice on her mind. A bombshell revelation from Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) throws her even further off balance.

“Alex does hit me with some unexpected news about a former fling coming back around with their baby, so she claims,” Klein shares. Still reeling from her kidnapping trauma, Stephanie is struggling to process everything happening around her—and within her. “I think she even says, ‘I don’t even know who I am anymore, I don’t know what I want,’” Klein explains. “She’s kind of reassessing everything about her life… part of her trauma stems from not being in control.”

That lack of control becomes a defining emotional thread. For Stephanie, life feels like it’s spiraling in ways she can’t stop. “It feels like life is throwing her these consequences that she had no control over… and so for her that’s really upsetting, and she’s not in a place to handle that.”

That vulnerability leads her back to someone from her past—Jeremy (Michael Roark). After learning about Alex’s alleged love child, Stephanie reconnects with her ex, a move that could have major consequences. “[Stephanie and Jeremy] meet up,” Klein says, noting that the connection is rooted more in shared trauma than romance.

“She’s been leaning on Jeremy just because he’s someone that sees her in the aftermath of what happened,” the actress explains. “I think she leans on him, not romantically, but just as a friend… someone who can really understand why she’s dealing with it so hard.”

However, their closeness doesn’t go unnoticed—especially by Alex, who witnesses a moment between the two that could easily be misinterpreted. Despite their complicated history, Klein hints that Stephanie and Jeremy may have reached a new level of understanding. “I think they both really have come to a place where they’re on solid ground with each other… but maybe one person wants more,” she teases.

FAN-tastic Reception

Klein also opened up about her appreciation for DAYS fans, crediting them with helping her stay connected to Stephanie’s deep history. “Everyone’s reminding me of what my character’s gone through… I always really appreciate that,” she says. “I love to know the details and the timeline.”

She adds that Stephanie’s current struggles mirror past storylines, making fan insight even more meaningful. “She’s going through a bunch of the same things that Stephanie went through 15 years ago… it’s special.”

Taking the Drama Home

Portraying such intense material hasn’t been easy. Klein admitted that separating herself from Stephanie’s emotional trauma was a challenge—especially at first. “The first day, I did have trouble unwinding,” she reveals.

Thankfully, guidance from director Scott McKinsey helped her navigate the emotional weight.“He told me I should really take care of [myself] because you don’t really have any idea that it might sit with you.”

And it did. “I thought, ‘I’m fine’ right after we called cut, but really it did hit me. I felt exhausted, and I just felt really heavy,” Klein recalls.

What’s Next

With emotions running high, lingering trauma, and relationships shifting, Stephanie’s next move could change everything. Will she regain control—or spiral even further?
