Days of our Lives

Stefano’s Alive? Seriously, Days of Our Lives?!?

When Hope shot Stefano in the chest multiple times last January and then buried his dead and bloodied body at a rundown construction site with Rafe’s help, we thought okay, this is it. The Phoenix will never rise again.

We soon learned actor Joseph Mascolo chose to leave the show for health reasons, and a few short weeks ago he passed from complications from Alzheimer’s.

And, if Days of Our Lives did not tape six months in advance, the stupid that is now playing out with Stefano being alive would NOT be happening.

We highly doubt DAYS writers would tarnish Mascolo’s memory with another ridiculous rise-from-the-ashes plot, but when they first dreamed up this insane story, they had no idea it would begin airing soon after the actor’s untimely death.

And this should be the final nail in the coffin (so to speak) of taping a show a half a year ahead and not being able to change stories when absolutely necessary.

Soap Hub truly believes one reason DAYS is failing and falling so hard in the ratings is because when a story is going bust, it has to play out for at least six months before the writers can do anything about it.

This story could have been stopped in its tracks weeks ago if need be, but the show already had six months worth of it in the can, so economically and logistically, it can’t do a thing and is now stuck telling another Stefano is alive story just after we lose the legendary actor who played him.

We realize the taping schedule is an NBC and Sony decision, but it just might be one that bites the show in a way its never been bit before.
