Marlena (Deidre Hall) has spent weeks worry about John (Drake Hogestyn) as he’s lingered in a medically-induced coma after suffering an aneurism while arguing with Sami (Alison Sweeney). Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) informed her on Friday that the drugs keeping John in his coma were affecting his heart so she had no choice but to bring him out of it — even if he wasn’t ready.
Well, he opened his eyes and Marlena is thrilled this coming week. However, it’s Sami who learns quickly this is not the John she remembers or has sparred with for years. He remembers everything about their last conversation and he is angry. Too bad this is not the typical John type of angry. In fact, this is not a John anyone has ever seen.

Meanwhile, Lani (Sal Stowers) feels betrayed now after learning her own husband arrested her best friend. Eli (Lamon Archey) said he wouldn’t tell anyone about Kristen (Stacy Haiduk). He just decided he’d arrest her himself. Will Lani ever be able to forgive him?
It doesn’t look like anyone will ever forgive Jan Spears (Heather Lindell) and probably for good reason. This week she befriends Claire (Isabel Durant) and Belle (Martha Madison) is horrified when she sees them together. When Philip (Jay Kenneth Johnson) encounters Jan, he warns her to watch out.
