Soap Veteran A Martinez Wants People To Understand The Power of Story

 Comments

Veteran soap star A Martinez has appeared as Eduardo on Days of our Lives, Roy on General Hospital, Dr. Ramon Montgomery on The Bold and the Beautiful, and of course as Cruz on Santa Barbara, so the actor certainly understands the power of a good story. Recently, he has been busy filming the new Michael Bay-directed action thriller, Ambulance, but he has other movies on his mind.

A Martinez – The Power of Film

The daytime vet has been staying busy watching some of the biggest films of 2021, and was excited to see Nomadland take home the Academy Award for Best Film. The much-beloved actor took to Instagram, posting a photo of Oscar winners Frances McDormand and Chloé Zhao.

“Gratitude to these women, first and foremost, for the gift of NOMADLAND, and to all the film-makers who persevered in the work to bring us nourishment in a difficult, hungering year,” he wrote. “Gratitude also to everyone who read, commented on and shared my article from last week, profiling the Oscar Best Picture Nominees.”

Last week, Martinez was asked to write about the Academy Awards and the Best Picture nominees for Manapause, which he happily did, saying that his family has experienced plenty of solace and joy from the movies over these last challenging months. At the time, he called Nomandland “a masterpiece.”

“One wonders: how many of these new American ‘van dwellers’, choosing to be ‘houseless’ rather than ‘homeless’, harbor bitterness toward the system that spit them out after yet another Wall Street season of violent ‘correction?’” he wrote. “If they’re pissed, they don’t show it. They appear instead to have found compensation in a deeper, more satisfying and sustainable sense of connection to the natural rhythms of life.”

He also mentioned how each of the finalists for Best Picture offered something special, a sentiment he repeated in his Instagram post.

“Watching the ceremonies last night, I was reminded of the many other films of special virtue that have earned a place of honor this season,” Martinez wrote. “With that in mind, a short recap of a small handful of these is offered as a post script. Hope it will lead us to a deeper dose of viewing pleasure… We need to keep these channels of shared wisdom alive and well.”

Once Nomadland won, he returned to Manapause to offer his recap of the events.

“As per the Vegas line, Nomadland did indeed win, and if we consider that Chloé Zhao also won for Best Director and [Frances] McDormand for Best Actress, it’s probably fair to call the picture’s victory a rout,” he shared.
