It feels like ages ago (okay, six months) that we learned that former The Young and the Restless (YR) star, Greg Rikaart, would be joining Days of Our Lives (DOOL). Now we finally know when he starts and a little bit about his exciting new role.
According to published reports, after 14 years as Kevin on Y&R, Rikaart is excited for the opportunity to create an entirely new character – courtesy of the same casting director, Marnie Saitta, who moved from Y&R to DAYS several years ago.
The new role is a great opportunity for the actor, who has been out as gay for years and is married with a young son. He will be a part of Sonny’s (Freddie Smith) story, as he tries to move on after the divorce from Will (Chandler Massey) becomes final.
Viewers learned at the end of today’s episode that the man Sonny “matched” with on his dating app is actually Vivian (Louise Sorel). Vivian will be hiring a man (Rikaart) to mess with Sonny, part of her plot to make Victor (John Aniston) pay for turning down her offer of a partnership with DiMera.
Victor also humiliated her when she also offered her naked body to him.

And we all know Vivian doesn’t take rejection well. Now she is going after Sonny, who wanted that CEO position so much at Titan and put him right in her crosshairs.
How this will play out is anyone’s guess, but it will be great to see Rikaart sink his teeth into something different on a whole new soap. He makes his debut in Salem on Tuesday, March 27.
That’s not the only good news for Rikaart — he just received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for playing Kevin on Y&R.
