Soap vet A Martinez, most recently seen in the season finale of The Bay this December and as Eduardo on Days of our Lives in the fall, is getting ready to shoot a new movie.
New Flick For A Martinez
According to Deadline, the actor will be part of a new Michael Bay-directed action thriller called Ambulance.
The movie will star Jake Gyllenhaal, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Eiza Gonzalez and is based on the popular Danish Film, Ambulancen.
Martinez will be joined in the cast by Fear the Walking Dead’s Garret Dillahunt, Wedding Crashers’ Keir O’Donnell, and Moses Ingram, who earned critical praise for her role as Jolene in Nextflix’s breakout hit, The Queen’s Gambit.
Not much is known about the plot, but rumors are swirling that it will pay homage to the action pics of the ’90s, such as Speed and Bad Boys. In terms of the movie on which it’s based, the film is more of a psychological thriller, with the entire film taking place in real-time, entirely in the ambulance.
With an accomplished action director like Bay at the helm, it’s a good bet that won’t be the case for Ambulance. The Universal-backed movie is written by Chris Fedak, who created the FOX hit, Prodigal Son.
In addition to his long daytime resume—which includes stints on Santa Barbara, General Hospital, and Days of our Lives—Martinez has appeared as Jacob Nighthorse on Netflix’s Longmire and had a recurring role in Queen of the South. His film resume includes The Cowboys, She-Devil, and Powwow Highway.
DAYS fans may be disappointed that Martinez might be too busy to return to daytime anytime soon, as the fan-favorite is always fun to watch. We last saw Martinez in Salem this fall but with Gabi and Rafe both back on the canvas full-time, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see Eduardo Hernandez pop up for a visit and get involved in his kids’ lives.
