Chrishell Stause’s Netflix reality series Selling Sunset is coming back and it’s about to get really real. In an advance clip, the actress/realtor shares with fellow realtor Mary Fitzgerald at The Oppenheim Group details about her publicized marriage coming to an end.

Chrishell Stause Opens Up

In a preview of Selling Sunset’s third season, a tearful Stause reveals: “I found out because he texted me that we were filed [for divorce].”

It appears that Stause is referring to the actual papers being filed — not that she got word of the breakup by text. The This is Us star reportedly filed for divorce in November 2019. Chrishell Stause and Justin Hartley had wed two years earlier and their marriage was covered extensively, landing the couple on the cover of People magazine.

In the clip, Stause points out that while the marriage lasted two years, she and the former Smallville star had been together for six.

Due to both actors being in the public eye, and Stause being in a genre, reality TV, that often delves into the real-life drama of its players, the split is playing out in public.

So while the backdrop of Selling Sunset is about the high-priced world of real estate in the coveted Sunset Blvd. area, the show’s cast members often reveal intimate details about their private lives.

Chrishell Stause is known for her scripted roles on daytime drama. Her first was Amanda Dillon on All My Children. After that soap came to an end in 2011, she joined the cast of Days of Our Lives as Jordan Ridgeway.

In the show’s well-publicized time-jump storyline, Jordan was killed off. At first, it seemed as if her brother Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) was the culprit, but the real killer turned out to be Evan Frears (Brock Kelly), the father of their baby, David.

Hartley came to the attention of soap fans when he was cast as dashing Fox Crane on Passions. He played that role for a few years before moving on to primetime series including the previously mentioned Smallville (on which he played millionaire Oliver Queen/Green Arrow). His other primetime credits include Revenge and Mistresses. Selling Sunset, Season 3, streams on Netflix starting August 7, 2020.
